  1. I have not mentioned publicly, but I am half dutch with yet the the other part of me is of an animist tradition whereby I can date my ancestors back to the 16 century.
    My Thanksgiving post & what to be thankful for: Here in NYC, the Dutch never bought Manhattan for 24 dollars from the Natives, more correctly, the Natives saw how the Europeans had difficulty living whereby the Natives offered Manhattan, as a pre modern understanding of land ownership: buying and selling land wasn't part of their culture. This albeit naïve view needs to be resurrected to be thankful for.
    Needless to mention I could tell personal stories of the clash of these two cultures, both my european & my animist background.
